On September 11, 2009 Mayor Neidel, Several Aldermen,City Employees, Police Department, Fort Osage Fire Department and Local Citizens joined at the VFW Memorial site to honor and remember those lost on this tragic day. Pastor Bob Kaps did the invocation and a medley of patriotic songs. John Yokum from the Fort Osage Fire Department gave a very moving speech about what his experience on September 11. Many thanks goes to City Clerk Jerry Shrout for organizing the event.
